The European History Section of the Southern Historical Association invites proposals for individual papers and complete panels for presentation at its annual meeting in Dallas, TX, November 9-12, 2017. Papers on any aspect in any period of European history, or European history in global, national, or comparative context are welcome. The program committee especially encourages full panel proposals involving comparative history, such as Europe and the Americas, Europe and Africa, or Europe and Asia.
Panels should consist of two or three papers, a commentator, and a chair. Doctoral students, as well as faculty members and independent scholars are welcome to submit individual papers or panels. Graduate Students who present at the Conference are Eligible to apply for the Section’s Simpson Prize. However, a panel should not consist exclusively of graduate students.
Individual paper submissions must include an abstract of approximately 250 words for each paper and a short (1-2 page) c.v. of each panelist. Submissions for full panels should include a 250 word abstract of each paper, a short c.v. from each participant, and a short (i.e. 250-500 words) description of the overarching topic or theme of the panel with a working panel title as well as the full name, affiliation, and e-mail address of the panel organizer. Proposals should be sent electronically to Lois L. Huneycutt, Program Chair, at HuneycuttL@missouri.edu. Proposals must be received by September 15, 2016 to be considered for the 2017 Program. Panelists must be current members of the EHS at the time of the 2016 Conference.
