Call for CCWH Volunteers, 2026

Dear CCWH members,

We hope you’re all hanging in there in spite of the challenges that the day-to-day brings. We write with an update and a call for nominations.

First, thank you for your feedback on the revised CCWH by-laws! They have officially been approved by the Board and will go into effect on January 1, 2026. You can find the updated by-laws on our website here.

Second, from now through November 15th, we’re accepting nominations, including self-nominations, for CCWH volunteer roles! Some of the perks of volunteering with the CCWH include the following:  

• An opportunity to build your service profile
• A means to develop critical professional skills, including project management skills
• Inclusion in a tight-knit community of dedicated volunteers
• A vehicle by which you can help defend our field and our profession in a time of crisis
• *For volunteers, this is an ideal way to gain experience to become a future Board member
• For volunteers who will serve in a Board position, this is a chance to shape the direction of a prominent professional historical organization

Currently, our open roles are:

• Co-President (*Board position)
• Program Chair (*Board position)
• Affiliate Outreach Chair (*Board position)
• Membership coordinators (2 of 2 slots open)
• Writing Group coordinator
• Mentorship coordinator
• Book reviews editor
• Graduate Student Representative (*Board position– 1 of 2 slots open)
• Public History and Alt-Ac Coordinator
• Berks Outreach Coordinator
• Awards committee chairs and members (varies – see form below)

How do I apply?

• Review the roles and responsibilities for open roles (highlighted yellow) here
• If interested, submit your name for nomination and rank your top three choices here
• If you know someone who may be a great fit for a particular role, use the same form to submit their name for nomination and we will get in touch. Please note: all volunteers must be CCWH members in good standing.
