CCWH and Public History

The CCWH Committee on Public History was organized at the 2000 annual meeting of the American Historical Association, held in Chicago, Illinois. A year later, the CCWH luncheon program took the title “Going Public With History,” presenting reflections on the present state of the field, as well as some objectives for the future.

There is a Public History Coordinator on the CCWH board and an ad hoc committee that can be organized as the need arises. The coordinator and committee exist to address the needs of historians whose interests, skills and scholarship take them beyond traditional university or college settings. Assembled here are collections of material for people in Public History or with an interest in that field. There also is a Public History column in our quarterly newsletter.

Elyssa B. Ford, Northwest Missouri State University,  is the CCWH Public History Coordinator. We very much welcome your feedback and suggestions.
