The Department of History in the College of Social Sciences and Humanities at Northeastern University invites nominations and applications from leading scholars in Early American History, with an expected start date of Fall 2018. Area of specialization and time frame are open, but we are especially interested in candidates with expertise from the revolutionary through the antebellum era, and with research emphases on the history of Boston or New England more generally. This position also includes the possibility of a leadership role in Northeastern University’s new Boston Research Center.
The successful candidate will have a distinguished scholarly record and demonstrated potential for excellence in leadership. The position will support the University’s commitment to innovation in teaching as well as the History Department’s (https://www.northeastern.edu/cssh/history) dedication to public history, world history and the digital humanities (http://www.northeastern.edu/nulab/). A joint appointment with an appropriate department in or beyond the College is possible.
Candidates should have demonstrated commitment to fostering diverse and inclusive environments as well as to promoting experiential learning, which are central to a Northeastern University education.
A PhD or its equivalent is required.
