Visiting Assistant Professor, History of China


The History Department at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor beginning in Fall 2022. This position is for one academic year, with possible renewal for a second year. The primary field is Chinese History, with area of specialization and subfields open. Applicants should demonstrate active scholarship and have a record of teaching effectiveness. The faculty member will be required to teach survey courses in World History or Western Civilization History in our Core curriculum, in addition to specialized upper-level undergraduate and possibly master’s level courses in Chinese History, and possibly other courses in Asian History. The applicant should have a PhD in hand before the start of the Fall 2022 semester; however, ABD applicants will also be considered.

We may ask for additional materials at later stages. The Committee will begin reviewing applications on April 1, 2022.
